BALI

selamat malam! i am back from bali! it's nice to be home, but it's definitely nicer to be there :) anw, the trip was damn fun, and the bunch of us did a hell lot of activities, which by the way were very expensive. haha..but it was worth it :) oh alright...i only took part in ONE, but that's a great achievement for me since i am absolutely not a sport fanatic and i usually don't take part in water sports. things that we did during this trip include:
  • surf
  • white-water rafting
  • flying fish
  • jet skiing
  • diving
  • spa
  • massage
  • foot reflexology
  • pedicure
  • eat
  • sleep
  • get sun burn
and out of all the sports activities, i only took part in white-water rafting...haha...lazy to blog any further..all i can say is that, my sun burn is damn bad and i'm shedding skin like a snake now! photos time :D

Surfing 101 White-Water Rafting..."maybe sometimes later there's a boom-boom (collision of the raft into the rocks).." - as said by our guide.....the last pic at the bottom right is of the 4m plunge that we took the flying fish that didn't fly very high...and this is the day when i was the designated photographer Jet Skiing the human fishes...

dinner at hard rock cafe balitheir last surfing attempt!

the middle child sydrome has been a particularly hot topic among my colleagues and i these days. and guess what?! i am a middle child! and i agree that i am slightly aloof at times. went to google it just now and this is what i found....

"The middle or second born child or children often have the sense of not belonging. They fight to receive attention from parents and others because they feel many times they are being ignored or dubbed off as being the same as another sibling. Being in the middle a child can feel insecure. The middle child often lacks drive and looks for direction from the first born child. Sometimes a middle child feels out of place because they are not over achievers and like to go with the flow of things.

Being a middle child would mean they are loners. They really don’t like to latch on to a person in a relationship, there fore they have trouble keeping one due to lack of interest. Not liking to take the limelight for anything, they are not over achievers and just simply work enough work to get by, and typically that goes with school as well as a career. They are however very artistic and creative. If forced to use abilities they will work well, but do not work well under pressure. They often start several projects but rarely keep focused long enough to finish a project. The best career move for a middle child would be along the lines of using their creative. Going into a writing or journalism career, and into a career that they could freely express themselves would be good. Anything that would have hours that are flexible, and projects that frequently changed would be good for a middle born child. Since relationships are not of high importance to a middle child, often times they are alone. However, the best possible match for a middle child would be a last born."

all in bold are traits that i think i possess or show sometimes. the career thing is especially true, because i find that i tend to enjoy doing various projects with different content rather than do the same old things all the time. as for the loner bit, tt is quite true too. my colleagues were saying tt the middle child are pretty temperamental, coz sometimes they are very friendly, and other times they tend to be extremely anti-social. and yes...i go through that too. like sometimes i am friends with the world but other times i get irritated with everyone and i just keep to myself. :S

the reason i brought that up is because...i suddenly realised that the past few days i have bee extremely irritated with the whole world, and whenever i am sitting with a grp of ppl i am usually not paying attention to what the ppl are saying or i just don't know what to reply even though i'm paying attention. like all of a sudden, i'm a complete social retard.

one of the biggest things that pissed me off yesterday is how people don't answer their phones, OR...don't call back when they see a missed call! ok..sometimes i don't call ppl back either BUT if i get anything more than 2 missed calls from the same person, or 2 missed calls from the same grp of ppl or 2 missed calls and various msg...i think i get the idea that it's slightly important that i respond regardless of how important or unimportant the matter might be.

since i am on the topic of responding to people... i must also mention that i HATE it when people do not answer other's calls or sms, and the reason why they don't answer is because they are too busy having fun or because they are with their other half (or maybe they are not having fun, i don't care), and then when they have problems (especially when they have problems with their other half) they suddenly remember tt their friends exist and they call their friends at weird hours of the night and expect people to answer their calls and listen to them. wtf.

some people might say "that's what friends are for...to support each other through difficult times". ya sure...i will certainly support u through difficult times, ONLY IF you remember that we exist during your la-dee-da times. if not, just wait and see what kinda shitty attitude u're gonna get from me. and i don't think i am alone in thinking this way...i know of many who think like me too.

remember how last time i had a "currently listening to"? this time i must have a "mood"

mood: >_< downright pissed

all things random

happy halloween!
today, a very muscular guy walked around the office wearing a transformers headgear that had an in-built voice changer and various lines that optimus prime said recorded in it. he carried a basket of sweets and approached everyone and said "jiak tng mai?" (do u want sweet?)...and his voice came out like a robot. then someone showed a video of the previous year's staff retreat with all the ppl doing funny dances and charlene turned to me and said "we are surrounded by crazy people........now u know why u feel so comfortable here...". to which i laughed and replied "yup :)". ten seconds later, i faced her and said "ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT I AM CRAZY?????", and she replied "YUP! :)"...idiot.

have i ever mentioned that the cleaning auntie is the luckiest woman on earth? everywhere she walks all the staff will greet her and smile to her. she's even more popular than the MD!

oh...HAPPY BIRTHDAY HORSIE!

ok. back to my game.

KNNBCCB!

wah lau..this has to be the shittiest day ever in history man!

firstly...it's a MONDAY! damn bloody sian coz of monday blues and all right? nvm..i woke up and it was raining heavily..even more sian..coz i wish i cld continue to sleep. nvm...then my freaking hair refuses to cooperate with me, and my freaking per-neh-sonic ionic straightener dies on me, so now i have a bad hair day. tt's like double whammy already.

i thought i'd make the day better by outsmarting the weather and all by wearing shorts and birks..but my mom and sis say tt i shld wear my slippers coz my birks will spoil in the rain, which is actually a good pt, but just because i am irritated now..i choose to blame them for not letting me wear my birks..haha! so i put on my OLD black havainas, and guess what happens? tt's right...i SLIP AND FALL while walking to my office. KNNBCCB! and my slipper broke! @$#*!$!&!$^

and of course i had to fall right in the middle of the cbd...at the pedestrian crossing where the whole world can see me fall. let me describe how it happened....

as i was crossing from the AIA building to the hong leong finance building....i was thinking to myself..hah! this time i beat the freaking rain coz i have an umbrella! so i cooly opened my brolly and walked towards the junction, and as i stretched out my left leg...it slipped right under me and gave way..and i end up kneeling on the road..machiam praying to the hong leong finance building! and because i tried to use my right leg to break the fall...my slippers gave way! so then i had to limp across the road with a barefoot and slipper in hand....basket. talk about being glamorous mannnnnn......

then i had to spend like eternity standing outside the hong leong building changing into my birks and cleaning my freaking wound and hands so that i could continue with the dreaded journey to the office, when actually i wld rather turn back and head home. so the maluation does not end here. as i was cleaning my freaking wounds...the indian security guard of the building opens the door of the building and asks me..."u fell down ah? alamak.."..to which i replied..."ya ..but it's okay..thanks"..and then i walk off. at this pt...i realise tt...fuck..i was standing infront of the freaking tinted door..which happens to be the door to the customer service area of the building..hence the whole freaking world in there saw me fall down/change my slippers/clean my wound etc...yayyy....like i can be any more of a dick head.... :(

and that sums up my shitty morning...now i have to go and shit. i hope tt reduces the shittiness of the rest of the day :(

just to gross everyone out..and just coz sulin wanted to see it....here's a pic

my law abiding immune system

apart from being an extremely law abiding citizen, i have recently discovered that my immune system is law abiding too. the reason i say this is because, as long as i have anything more than ONE beer, i will throw everything up. yup, that also means that i drank 2 beers on friday night and i puked it all out when i got home. haha! but mannnn..i never felt any better! oh i forgot to mention that i erm...LS-ed too...hahah...fark..so i am law abiding because the law says that if u were to drive after drinking, the limit is ONE beer. and i am always the designated driver when we go clubbing, hence my immune system has set it's limit to ONE beer! *snort*

caught resident evil with a bunch of people last night. wah lau, it is downright violent, gross and ermm...all that stuff that makes you want to close your eyes throughout the entire movie! after that we went to the arcade to play those stupid games where you have to control the ufo looking device to catch the toy. i swear that machine is rigged into making you waste money. we caught the bloody toy a million times but it always drops before it reaches the basket..BAH!

and today, cootie and i went to shop for a microwave and hot water flask for his home. we spent a damn long time deciding on which microwave to get, and finally we got this quite ugly sharp one, which was supposed to be $131, but when the cashier scanned the price tag, she said it's $99. what a steal!

then we went blading and cycling in the evening. i felt like i brought a little boy to the park..shant' explain why though. my legs are aching now coz at some point of our exercise, i had to lug a cow along with my bike...and below's a pic of the cow..

for once i can gladly say that this was a weekend well spent :)

new experiences

  1. nintendo wii - suffered from severe muscle aches after some intense boxing
  2. hed kandi bar - i like the decor and the music

did i mention that

I AM NO LONGER UNEMPLOYED??????????

haha...damn boh liao right? sorry, couldn't control myself. anyway some interesting things that i have spotted in my office............

i walked into the toilet, and noticed that the toilet roll dispenser is called SCOTT. Before there was only scottex, now there's SCOTT! i always knew our dear friend scott was a toilet roll in his last life *snigger*.

the hand dryer in the toilet is the old school stiebel eltron one..reminds me of my kindergarten days. i will always associate those hand dryers with those in st paul.

my entire office uses ibm desktops/laptops...seems like there's no escaping from ibm for me. but i have to admit that i love their laptops, albeit the oh biang design. it's how zhai!? i'm using the new t60 now...shiok la...

there are a lot of odd looking rooms in the office, so i have been walking around like a tourist the whole of today, amusing myself with the things that i find.

ok...back to stonning. first week of work is always the most zzzz...i really suck at pretending that i'm busy :(

the bionic woman. the mighty dustball and the great revamp

after my great trip to the far north, i went to holland village to meet sulin for lunch. the route for 95 changed and i almost ended up at that petrol station further off holland v. thankfully i wasn't day-dreaming for once..haha!

went to ikea with peach after tt to buy "furniture" for the great revamp of her room, and then went back to her house to put the stuff together. indeed, peach is a bionic woman!
we bought one of those racks with the baskets and had to fix them together. i spent a good 10 mins hammering like mad to get the bars to join together, but all it took peach was two big whacks and she did it! what a man she is indeed!

anw..here's a headsup for hil. please bring a mask and socks on saturday for the great cleanup, because chances of getting attacked by the mighty dustball in peach's room is really pretty high! i left her house with a red eye and incessant sneezing! if possible...bring a full body suit that u can wear to protect urself...ha!

forgot to mention that i went for mambo last night. the place is still as crowded as ever! but...it was filled with prcs, nsmen and dunno what other ppl. i spent most of the time standing on the steps watching two idiotic girls trying to do some erotic dance that absolutely turned everyone off! but of course, it was damn good entertainment laughing at their erm..grossness? if the camera in my phone was of a better quality, i would definitely have video-ed the both of them and posted the clip on youtube! not that bad dancing is unacceptable, but if you dance badly..just stay on the freaking dancefloor (like me..hurhur) instead of standing on the platform and killing everyone with your hideous moves and grooves! tsk tsk...

and...TEEEHEEEHEEE...someone got picked up by some prcs! and not like a hot one...it was an "EEPS!" one with like curly hair and pig tails and she was wearing a woolly dress...*SNIGGER* this same someone got picked up by a girly man once too...TEEEEHEEEHEEEHEEEHEEE!!!

speaking of girly man, check out this video. friggin hilarious!
someone went to put english subtitles in the tamil music video, but the subtitles don't make sense at all. they're just english words that resemble what the tamil lyrics sound like in english..haha..

maybe i should master this dance and go on the platform in zouk *SNORT*

girly man!
gosh my old calculator ain't got no bow
nippley man i met, he ate my motorboat!...
welcome the dude who ain't the buyer of mugs!
..................
ooooooooooooo! you'll be pumping ovaltine!

made a frozen strawberry cheesecake, and konyaku jelly on tuesday. both are first attempts. my konyaku jellies were in the shape of beer bottles! how cute right?

the results of my "cooking"...
frozen strawberry cheescake: a tad bit too sour because i added too much lemon juice.
konyaku jelly: great :) (ok if i failed to make this, i can be certified as an absolutely lousy chef!)

i sort of found a part time job. actually i didn't find it, it was given to me. and my part time job is........to be a maid! and the one who gave me the job is none other than my mom -_-"
our new maid from myanmmar has this serious nose bleeding problem and she has to go home, so while waiting for the new maid to arrive, i have been been instructed to do the household chores...zzzzzz.......i hope my mom manages to find a part time maid. i'm sure i won't be able to handle sweeping and mopping the floor, and washing the clothes everyday...i will die!

Monday, September 10, 2007

it's true, i'm unhappy. about what though? i'm not too sure myself.
got a million things running through my head, and yet i can't put them all together to form the big picture of my unhappiness.
maybe it's because i feel suffocated trapped?
maybe it's because i feel like i'm talking to walls most of the time?
maybe it's because i want to do something DIFFERENT, but yet always end up at where i started?
maybe it's because i want to change, but am afraid of rejection?
maybe it's because i want to change the people around me, but who am i to do that?
maybe it's because i feel like i am trapped in a bell-jar like vacuum thing and i'm screaming, shouting and waving my hands to get the attention i need, but yet the one standing right outside the vacuum looking at me in the eye, can't seem to hear me or see me?
or maybe it's just because i lack courage, confidence and am ultimately insecure?

sigh..bah...nite. (notice how there's no longer a good before the night?)

so you think that all those chains, necklaces and pendants and whatever else that the black rappers wear are BLING BLING??? check this out....

the car of the saudi prince.............

three words...WHAT THE HELL?!

ok anyway, out of boredom, i decided to read xiaxue's blog last night. the real reason why i went to read her blog was because, my stupid younger sister has been repeating this line - "XIAXUE...ARE YOU KUKU??", to me everyday, and i just had to go to her blog to watch the video with that utterly disgusting eyebrow plucker saying it. erm i really kinda hated her...but now i have to admit that she's quite entertaining when one's really bored..haha! *sheepish look* erm ...and then i went to watch "girls out loud". haha farking funny...i love roz!

after much procrastination, we finally went to the science centre today! woohoo! all thanks to my persistence...hohoho...

the science centre is damn cool now! haven't been there since erm..i think it was primary 6. got damn a lot of exhibitions (though a lot of them were faulty) and still got all the puzzles that we played with during our primary school days! after today's trip, i can once again conclude that science is NOT my cup of tea :S

we also caught the documentary titled "Dinosaurs - Giant of Pentagonia" aka "Dinosaurs - GOP" at the omni-theatre! the omni-theatre is still as coool as ever..and erm i kinda got giddy at some point when the dinosaurs were running too quickly.

photos from our science centre excursion:

charles' very own kitchen

errm...some animal specimens exhibit

charles the booger-boy!

damn gross looking tongue..

told ya i was fit not fat!
" what are ya looking at???"

we went to the clinic after that with leonard, aaron and martin. the drinks there are nice tasting but blardee expensive! we tried the drip drink and it costs $50! blood suckers....

with friends like these, who needs enemies?

met up with the bitch friend of mine who has 4 other brothers with rhyming names...now those are what i call "similar sibling names",certainly not those as defined by mr peter lee!

anw...i was poking my bitch friend's arm and commenting that it sure seems that he has been working out because i see those muscles buldging, and he replied "of course!". i then added that i on the other hand, have been busying myself with getting fat, and he replied "yes i can see that..haha!". you see...now you know what i mean by "with friends like these, who needs enemies"???? haha, but of course no hard feelings! this guy is certainly the only friend i know who will throw the shitty hard truth in my face when the rest of the world is trying to make me feel better in crappy times.

we had lunch at this jap restaurant in marina square called MOF (Ministry of Food), and the food there's superb and very reasonably priced. the dessert's the best! even better than azabu sabo (did i get that right?)! so i highly recommend it to everyone else.ahh...i must mention the egg in the ramen (i think the only person who would be able to appreciate what i'm gonna say, wld probably be peach!). the egg in the ramen is hard boiled egg...BUT...it is hard on the outside and soft and slightly watery on the inside. the yolk is 95% wet...AND the egg is like those stewed egg with the outside kinda brown from the sauce. ABSOLUTELY SHIOKADOODLES!!!

ok, enough about the egg. i proceeded to fullerton to meet a prof from UMass with hil after that, and we waited for an entire hour but the prof did not turn out. turns out that he checked out in the hour that we were sittingin the lobby waiting for him. super what the hell. we asked the front desk to call his room twice, and we even left a msg at the front desk to inform him that we were waiting at the lobby, and still we missed him! can't believe our luck..bah! anw, so we both ended up lounging in the lobby cafe with a pot of GORGEOUS PEACH black tea, and talking about...erm..well just life in general. totally leading a high life la!

after that we had dinner at raffles city with peach, daphne and small hui and then we went to timbre for some drinks. peach and hil were out to kill each other in their 5-10 game, and small hui got a little high after like 1/10 of her entire pint of erdinger! haha...she kept telling peach to UP her pint, instead of DOWN it..freaking hilarious!

so anw, this documents the most happening day of this entire week for me. oh...forgot to mention that i woke up at 530am (i only slept at 330am the previous night) to send my maid to the airport, and then i drove my sis to the mrt station, then went for a walk with my mom, and came back and stonned till i went out! what a looooonggg day it has been...time to go back to the tv.

one more thing...HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR PORKY FRIEND!

ok i really haven't started the job hunt at all. but because i am starting to get bored, and i officially do not have anyone left to play with me...i shall start tmr :)

watching that jay chou show online now. although i think it will be yet another trashy jay chou show, i think i shall spend 7.50 and catch it in a cinema because...OMG! JAY CHOU SPEAKS! AND HE LAUGHS TOO! so i guess it's gonna worth $7.50, just to watch him speak and laugh. i always thought this guy was a mute and other than tt stupid act cool face, he had no other expressions! oh! and the piano playing skills are pretty coooooooolllll.....

alrite. now i shall watch paris je t'aime. why am i watching this movie? because i rented the dvd that's why. ciao.

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

bouncer's birthday party

Daph msged me on tues to ask me to go to bouncer's birthday bash at no.5 emerald hill, and i was wondering who the hell bouncer was. turns out, bouncer's the plastic golden retriever in cold storage that we used to put coins into when we were kids -_-" who would have thought that, that dog had a name!

ssssssspppaaaiiiinnnn

Hola once again! it has been eons since i last blogged :) and i have finally got down to transferring my spain pics into the laptop, and then to posting them on my blog. so here they are :) scroll on down...................

left to right: #1 & 2: milan airport - super bare and boring looking, i don't even know how to describe it. #3: in the cab on the way out of barcelona airport.
on the streets of sagrada familia. we had to go for a one hour stroll because our hotel room was not ready yet. the busker who pretended to be christopher columbus looked so life-like.
15 out of the 1000 pics of the la sagrada familia temple that we took. it's been under construction for hundred over years, and they are not going to finish it anytime soon. the last two pics at the bottom were taken at the back of the church. the architecture here is pretty different from the front, more on the modernism side.

on the way back to the hotel, we found a grocery shop tt sold huge ass tomatoes! and happy yellow traffic lights.
took a train to barcelona city centre. didn't really know what to do, so we took a long stroll, ermm....did a bit of shopping...haha and headed to the rambla (dunno how to spell).
the market. aren't the sweet shops colourful? i think i can stand there and gaze at the fruits, sweets, gelato, nuts etc for hours!
this is the rambla...tons of buskers, artists, and shops selling birds/fish/rabbits/hamsters/squirrels/other weird animals on this street...very interesting :)

this is the harbour at the end of the rambla. check out the sky...so clear and blue! oh and that's the butt of good old colon...he's standing on top of that huge post.
my dad's ex-colleague's daughter..erm...i suddenly forgot her name. but she's really cute. she has this skin condition that causes her to constantly gives her rashes all over, so her parents taught her the importance of being clean, and she's obsessed with it! she CANNOT STOP cleaning the table and her hands. i think if this goes on, she's gonna have OCD. haha...and she gave me this really dirty looking old frog puppet from her school, and i had to entertain her with it -_-" i'm such a loser...even kids try to take advantage of me, and make me their entertainer

:( maybe clowning can be my new career.
we had our first paella after that, at this pretty posh restaurant. yes....we were so not dressed for dining there. but aiya whatever...
the next day we met another of my dad's collegue, and he brought us to montserat. we took a train up the mountains to the cathedral/monastery up in the mountains.
that's my dad's colleague, antonio. he reminds me of the man in mary poppins who laughed so much he floated up to the ceiling, and he had a tea party up there :P

the cathedral. the third picture from the left, on the third row shows the room in the cathedral where people leave their items - that represent various things that they have gone through - to give thanks to God. some things we saw there...the driving p-plate, baby bibs, socks, photos, leg/arm casts, neck brace, letters, toy cars/guns, dolls etc.
this is on the streets of barcelona again, in the oldest neighbourhood of barcelona. we had lunch in a restaurant that's located in an old castle off one of the main streets. and my sis and i had a pretty good chat with antonio's sons - xavi and alberto - exchanging info about our culture and all that stuff..but errrrm... there were times when we both just like laughed at what each other said but had absolutely no clue about what the other was talking about. haha
photos that we took from the barcelona tour bus. tons of architecture by gaudi, the tallest building in barcelona (building of their local bank)
madrid...madrid...the pic on the left is the posh hotel that we stayed...across from. haha! ours is the one on the right..with all the scaffolding. breakfast was included, and every morning we got one slice of bread, one croissant, some jam, a cup of coffee/tea and a glass of very sour orange juice :S
on gran via in madrid. and in the chinese restaurant...first taste of chinese food in like 4-5 days. it felt like heaven! but then we had like all the rest of our meals there, and then it started to feel like hell...sigh....
real madrid palace. my dad kept asking us to hurry cos he was late. and then we asked him what he was late for..and he said he was late in going to the veranda to wave to his subjects who were waiting for him below, to greet them for the day. sheesh....
dinner at the florida park. damn blardee expensive dinner this was, but we went coz we wanted to watch the flamenco performance. how can you go to spain and not catch the bull fight and flamenco right??? but we didn't manage to watch any bull fight, coz the season was over in spain and madrid.
ok i have no idea what these buildings are. the sound system on board the madrid vision was dam bad...so we just snapped away like mad, with utterly no clue as to what we were looking at.
this is the......ermmmmmm....i forgot the name, but i gotta go check. see that picture at the bottom right? tt's ham and hammier.
my art piece...heh...not the fat blob of a sister of course..but the pictures.
holy toledo. erm i forgot the name of the cathedral already....i am hopeless with names...
still at toledo......

hah! this i know....the synagogue (which has since been converted into a catholic church) and the st joan monastery.
sevilla. the macdonald's signboard here is black, and because it is black, we can never find it. you might think it's bullshit, but it's true...you can look down the entire street and not notice that macs is there. and that's yet another one of the gazillion cathedrals that we visited, and the yellow walled area is the barrio.
the end of our journey and the start of our 30 hour journey home! we took the renclaffe trenhotel from sevilla to barcelona (12 hours) and then the plane back to sg (13 hours) i almost went crazy. it was damn fun to sleep in the bunk of the train...reminded us of the scene in sex and the city..heh.
