tis the season to be jolly!

hello world! because i am damn bored at work today, i shall blog! =)

december has been a really fun month, with tons of christmas celebrations (even though i don't celebrate christmas..haha), and i think i've received more christmas/bday gifts this yr, than i've ever had in the past 10 yrs =) i must also mention that the gifts i've gotten so far are all items/things tt i like, unlike the usual trashy gifts that we usually get (aka photoframes, christmas ornaments etc) from mandatory gift exchange sessions that we take part in.

here's what i've received so far:
1) Fabrix camera pouch
2) organizer
3) OPI Manicure vouchers
4) a bag
5) Givenchy towel
6) Yoga Mat + Yoga Bootcamp set
7) Guitar Heroes World Tour
8) Capitaland vouchers
9) Chocs from Marks & Sparks

and another gift that i've yet to open =)

i've also had my fair share of present giving coz it's the season of giving afterall!

so...anw anw...here are some pics from the things that i've been up to in december...

07 Dec: my favourite person in this world took part in his first marathon, and erm i'm not saying how long he took. but anw, i think i have to salute him for taking part in it, coz he didn't really train for it. one of our friends asked whether i will ever run with him in a marathon, and my reply was ..."not in this life or the next!!" haha...sorry but i still don't see a point in paying to put myself through such torture.

*pictures koped from marathon-photos.com =)

20 Dec: my favourite person in this world then took me to lawry's the weekend before christmas, for my bday dinner =D

we had the lawry's cut and the sirloin steak. the lawry's cut is very nice but erm the sirloin steak is ok only. the set meal comes with the famous spinning bowl salad, and the waitresses will spin the bowl as they mix the salad - it sure looked like a magic performance.

but the funniest part was when they came in with a bday cake and sang......"happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to youuuuu...happy birthday to you!"and then after tt they all stand in one line and do this hand action and sing..."AND MANY MOREEEEE". omg, i almost burst out laughing!

22 Dec: my colleagues celebrated my + 3 other colleague's bday in the christmas week. they bought us two huge cakes and gave each of us the best vouchers in the world - CapitaLand vouchers! yay!

met the girls for dinner that same night and had yet another cake =) look at my poor cake, destroyed by big nose hobz..it almost slid off it's tray, but anw it was very nice and is from yack's place. thanks for getting me a cake and for the chocs!

and then...........the best thing that happend in december is that...i went to my fav country again! HK HK...i heart HK! =)

these pictures were taken with the fish eye lens that my cousin-in-law gave me. how hideous we all look!

our eating spree!

and on the second last day of our trip, we went to lantau island. that was my first time there. for once i saw the buddha with my own eyes, instead of on the tv. we didn't climb up the steps to the buddha as it was foggy and raining.

there's this village at the foot of the buddha called Ngong Ping village. it surely is commercialized man. there's like starbucks there. visitors are supposed to experience life in the village, but erm how to when it's only filled with souvenir shops and western cafes?!

and then there's this attraction in the village called "walking with the buddha" that didn't really make sense at all. we were brought into this huge theatre to watch a video on the buddha's journey to nirvana, but at the end of the the video, there was a huge WATSONS word in the buddha's eye, followed by a scene featuring all the sponsors of that attraction. super wtf!

we were then brought into this room with a huge glass buddha, and the guide told us to take a leaf, slot it into the machine beneath the lotus pad tt the buddha was sitting on, and make a wish. then a green light will circulate in the buddha's body, signifying tt your wish is being processed. when the bright white light appears in the buddha's head, it means that your wish will come true. another super wtf thing ...tsk tsk...

anw, i think the worst thing that happened in the trip was that my parents, and cootie kena food poisoning/diarrhoea. so poor thing la, but luckily it wasn't SUPER SERIOUS.

so ok anw that kinda sums up my entire dec.
Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year
! =D

i must say that the past few times that this happened, i was only pissed for a while, and then i got over it pretty quickly. but this time round it's actually affecting me quite a bit. am actually very hurt by the things that someone said, and "what's the point?" keeps repeating in my head.

the greatest joke of all is that i'm actually seeking solace in the office, and am trying to use work to distract myself. the one place that i've been trying to escape from at 6pm sharp everyday. vhat a joke...

Today's my company's 60th anniversary, and as a form of celebration, we're given a surprise every 60th min. Initially i thought that it would be pretty lame, however the entire day has been kinda exciting/cute, since we get a small "gift" every hour.

9am - red balloon
10am - muffin

don't they ever think that this might just reflect on how STUPID they might appear? zzzoommmg...there are too many idiots in this world for me to deal with....snorez...

alcohol....i hate

i dislike drinking alcohol for simple reasons such as...it tastes absolutely disgusting, it is damn bloody expensive and it is bad for one's health.

to set things straight, i don't drink not because i can't, but because i don't like to. it's a choice..A CHOICE. so i find it absolutely irritating when ppl make jokes about other people not being able to drink, or not wanting to drink.

honestly, i'd much rather spend my money on an electric sharpener that i probably wouldn't need, than to spend it on a glass of alcohol. so there...that's how much i dislike drinking.

stay tuned for ..."why i dislike clubbing".

those were the days...

the days when big specs were in. the height of your specs have to start from your brows and extend all the way to your cheekbones.
when everyone in the school had the same hairstyle. the fringe has to be above the brows, and the length of the hair cannot reach the first collar..haha..hilarious!

how do i do these things?

sometimes i'm really amazed at what a klutz i am. and i'm saying that because...well..i fell down last sat. yup...yet again. one of those really drama slips =(

was on the way out the marina sq cinema on saturday night, and this good samaritan spilled coke down the entire flight of steps of the exit..and it's not like one small patch. it's the ENTIRE flight and he/she managed to spread it across the length of every step. when i saw it, i was thinking omg, ok must be careful when i walk down. and i took this really cautious step, and guess what? yup...my foot slipped..so i tried to brake with my other foot, which also decided to conveniently slip. great.

so i flew and landed on my butt! oh it didn't stop there...i had to slide down the entire flight on my butt..as though it's really fun =S and only stopped when i reached the bottom of the flight. have i mentioned that we were part of the first half of the entire cinema who were on the way out? and that it was full house for that screening? yea so i managed to stop traffic with my graceful fall. and now i have a REALLY bruised butt (i wld post a picture of the bruise, but that'd be an indecent exposure), my arm is aching like mad (suspect that i might have twisted it when i tried to break the fall), and well..basically my entire body is freaking aching. blah!

ah...not to forget that i was wearing this tee that said "LITTLE SUPER HERO GIRL"...super hero my foot siah....

anw, am too lazy to post the tokyo photos, but will do so as soon as i get out of this lazy streak. and also when i've figured out how to do photo collages with my new macbook...hohohohohohohohoho...

t-o-k-y-o

konichiwa! guess which country we holiday-ed in, in the end? yupp...japan it is! we only had the time and money to cover one city, so we went to tokyo. from the moment we arrived, till the moment we left, we could not believe that we were actually in tokyo, because it was an extremely last min plan!

anw the entire trip was a blast, but it was really very tiring because we did tons of walking, running and travelling. the places that we managed to cover include - shinjuku (we stayed here), kabuki-cho in shinjuku, tokyo, asakusa, ueno, shibuya, roppongi, hakone, harajuku, akihabara and...DISNEY LAND!! or rather, disney sea =)

the entire japan subway system is friggin confusing. there are like 5 different subway companies, and not all areas are covered by all the 5 companies. the tickets are also hard to figure out, and we had to get our tickets refunded a couple of times because we got the wrong ones. we actually spent more than half an hour on saturday figuring out how to get to our destination.

because the entire trip was so last min, no proper planning was done, hence we spent close to an hour locating our hotel on the first day. and it didn't help that i noted down the wrong train exit, or that we didn't have the address of the hotel, the name of the hotel in jap, or a map of tokyo...HAHA...how kok right? but after we located it, getting around the area was pretty easy.

despite the common belief that if one cannot speak jap, one should not travel to japan alone..we managed to survive there with our wonderful hand signals! after being in japan for just one day, we were already behaving like the japanese...bowing for no rhyme or reason. haha...

Disney sea was absolutely fun! i wanted to go to disneyland initially, but charles' friend, keith (not a joke), recommended that we go to disney sea instead. glad that we heeded his advice, because there were tons of rollercoaster rides there, unlike the kiddy rides in disneyland. the tower of terror was the worst, and my heart almost popped out of my throat from all the screaming! charles went a bit crazy buying snacks from disney sea, and i think he only realised when we were packing..haha! other than that, we didn't have the time to do much shopping, because we were trying to cover as much places as we could.

anw, know how japan is like the capital of porn...well it really is. we went into one of those supposed comic shops, because i wanted to find for this gundam thing that my colleagues wanted, and we found that behind the first row of shelves that contained comic books, the remaing 3/4 of the shop sold porn! and the most disgusting thing was that they sold porno dvds of kids that were 10-12 yrs old. how sick is that?! then there was another floor that sold like hard core porn, and there were tons of shady uncles and geeks hanging around the shelves, scrutinising the dvds that were for sale. omg totally fit the stereotype of perverts, man! this dodgy looking guy even wore really dark shades in the shop, and he walked out with a WHOLE BAG of dvds! *gulp*

ok enough about the porn...now food. ramen is like the common food staple in japan. there can be like 10 ramen shops in one street. i was CRAVING for a hot bowl of ramen on our second night in tokyo, but was quite disappointed when i got a bowl of shou mian with tons of cabbage instead, and charles got this bowl of dry noodles that turned out to be the crispy noodles that we buy at zhi-char stalls here. haha..wtf. then on the third day we had a nice bowl of fatty char siew ramen, and in the night we had ramen again. after that i felt like puking whenever i saw or smelled ramen. hahahhahaha....so we stayed off ramen for the rest of the trip.

ah okay...i'm getting lazy already..shall continue another time with pictures!

i think there's some connection between my family and this whole Elias thing.......even our new house has something to do with it. anyway wow...now i know that my new house has a heritage architecture in it! how cool.........

Sea View condo comes with a piece of local history

By VINCENT WEE

RESIDENTS of Wheelock Properties' new The Sea View condominium will be able to take pride in the fact that they have a classic piece of Singapore's history in their estate.

Conservation work on the stately Neo-classical style bungalow off Amber Road formerly known as Pavilion has been completed, Wheelock said in a press release yesterday. Pavilion was built in the early 1900s and was owned by the Elias family, an established Jewish family at the time. The bungalow was gazetted for conservation in 2004.

The developer spent $1.3 million on conservation, retrofitting and furnishing the 5,000 sq ft double-storey clubhouse which will house two games rooms, a multi-purpose room with a pantry and a function room.

The extensive work done includes both the external and internal structure. Some key features include a panoramic 12-panel stained glass above the grand entrance and cast iron railing on the verandahs of both floors.

'We volunteered to conserve the house as we felt that it was worth preserving a piece of history. The architecture of the house is seen as key to the charming character of the Amber Road/Katong area,' explained Wheelock Properties (Singapore) director Tan Bee Khim.

Wheelock has also invested almost $500,000 on two art installations at the clubhouse. Both works by renowned local artist Kumari Nahappan spell life and energy for the space and provide visual focal points and vibrant colour contrast to the seamless landscape of water and greenery.

Tragic holiday planning tale

i can't help it, i just have to share my very tragic holiday planning tale with everyone...

about a month back, a few of us decided to go to port dickson for this dj tiesto gig and some beach party thing. but then along the way, everybody had something on and so it got cancelled.

then i remembered that i was still on probation and so it's not right to take leave during this period, hence i gave up the idea of going on a holiday.

but then the days passed, and i took on this really shitty project that drove me insane, and i decided to screw the world, and just apply for leave, regardless of whether my appraisal in 2 mths time will be like shit..and guess what? my leave got approved! woohoo!

so then i started thinking of places to go to..and the first place i thought of was...bali.
after much consideration, i've decided that i should spend that amount of money, going to a destination that i've never been to. hence i settled on chiang mai or koh samui.

so a VERY excited me...went to check out the airfares, hotel, weather etc. only to find out that the fligths to chiang mai were fully booked, and the only one available was by thai airways , which costs $600+++ well...no way am i going to pay tt much money to go to thailand! so then i checked out koh samui. the tix were equally expensive, but to add on to that, the weather forecast showed that there's gonna be thunderstorm everyday.

damn. then charles suggested hong kong, which took me by surprise. because i never imagined that he would ever suggest going to my fav country in the world. hence i went to check out all the hotel prices and air tix and all were available! couldn't believe my luck at tt pt in time. but...there's always a but isn't it?! hobz told me that peach told her...that she just experienced a typhoon on saturday while she was there. so this morning i smsed peach (who is still in HK by the way) , and she said yea there was a typhoon level 3, and the local news just reported that it's gonna get worse over the next few days. oh yay yay yipee yay!

knnbccb more like it. i had to think like mad of another destination and finally settled on TOKYO! sounds damn fun ya?! so ok was all excited abt it, but cldn't get a confirmation on the flights that were available, and some certain organisation has some stupid rigid leave application system that requires very fixed dates for going overseas. you know how sometimes the rest of us can just pretend tt we are on MC or like say we miss the plane or something and take an extra day of leave at the last min? well this particular organisation doesn't allow it, so tokyo was out of the qn, and we finally decided on bangkok :( the place i dislike the most after our friendly neighbours.

so 5D4N in bangkok it was until.........my colleague told me that her mom just returned from bangkok and the weather right now is 40degrees, and when it's not like a desert, there's thunderstorm.

eh WTF...enough already or not?! if it's not the flight, it's the hotel, if it's not the hotel it's the weather. wth.......and i thought going on a holiday was supposed to be relaxing!

Phone Scam

just got a recorded msg in mandarin on my office phone. supposedly it's a recorded msg from the high court that i have been charged for some offence, and the msg asked me to press 1 to listen to charges, or 9 to speak to an operator.

as i hate speaking to operators...i pressed 1 but the phone went silent, and then the msg repeated itself again, and so i hung up.

then i mass emailed my flens, and peach replied with "Eh don't press. Bluff ppl one..."

apparently this is some phone scam. it tells the person that he/she has been charged by the high court, and then informs the person of the amt that he/she needs to pay. and then after that the person needs to key in their acct number -_-" and it's circulating around my office, because van got it too.

anw, i must say this scam sucks because....
1) i had to listen to the msg 3 times before i understood what the person was saying
2) what if the person who picks up the phone doesn't understand mandarin?
3) the "press 1 to listen to the msg, or 9 to speak to an operator" function does not even work
4) the con-men sure aren't getting any money out of this office, because everyone here eats potatoe (jia kantang) so no one will get what the hell the msg is abt
5) who the hell knows what gao ji fa ting is?!

losers..........

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!

oh boy! oh boy! it's that time of the year again...and i spent one whole day in the office not playing a single prank. i think i started to suffer from pranks-withdrawal symptoms..so i went around scouting for a victim.

guess who was the lucky one this year?? my business director...HAHA!
but it was a lousy prank...and i gave one part of it away..sheesh...

i locked his bag in his drawer and hid the keys, and his keyboard in the cabinet and hid the keys too.
unfortunately he came back and headed straight to the drawers (which he usually doesn't use) coz he was looking for this namecard that was in the drawers. so e senior account manager had to tell him where the keys were...and where his keyboard was.
then she laughed so hard he had to calm her down, but he didn't realise that his bag was missing.
and i had to walk into the office with a big grin on my face and ask if he found his bag...bah!

fortunately he was quite amused...i always knew ang mohs could take jokes better than us asians..haha! and also wished him happy april fools day with loads of love from the acct director, senior acct manager and myself! *snort*

ever noticed how boys have the tendency to watch tv with their mouths open? i discovered this yrs ago when i was watching tv with my cousins, and my male cousin was watching with his mouth wide open, whereas us girls had our mouths shut. yrs later in jc and uni, i realised this was really true, because the guys always had their mouths open when they were watching tv.

and to prove my point, please take a look at the pic below. the guys were watching soccer at winebar 2 weeks back...and ALL OF THEM had their mouths opened..haha! i just had to take a picture of them

photos from our (zzzzzzzzzzz) zouk outings...snort

other events that i've gone for, and things i've been up to:
- airshow (display was pretty good, but everything else was just DAMN BAD)

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! Hope your ang pao collection has been fruitful so far..and may you win tons of money if you're a gambling addict!

i don't really know how my collection is so far, because my family has this practice of opening our ang paos on the 15th day of the new year. am absolutely stuffed, and if there had been any plans of losing weight...well erm...i must say it's gonna be even harder now!

nothing else to blog about...some pics and a video from my company's AGM that was held at The Arena 2 weeks back. everyone had to dress in 70s costume and erm...i can't believe how onz everybody was..99% of the people turned up in something retro...and the guest entertainer was Kumar who was friggin hilarious...

my fav pic is the one right smack in the middle with van van...because that's the only pic where i don't look fat, and don't look like a mama bird! the ppl at the bottom right of the entire collage are my team mates..they dressed up as a 70s sports team. if you are wondering why i'm not dressed like them...erm...haha it's a looooooooooooooooooooong story which i can't be bothered to tell! anw..they looked friggin hilarious, and i dunno why they weren't nominated for the "best dressed" award.

and this is my fav dance of the night..this guy dressed up as a microwave (erm...i dunno in what way is that retro..) and he was called up on stage to take part in every single performance!

Just found this clip in my laptop. It was taken some time ago, when peach, hil and i went to pasir ris park to hang out.

There was this saucer looking thing in the playground that hil said was very fun, and we all tried. and omg, it's damn freaking scary. you can tell how scary it is, by how peach is hanging on for her dear life! hil is lying in tt manner because she tried to run on the thing like a hamster to make it move (what a kok!), but slipped and hence she's like tt...haha!

Monday, January 14, 2008

man...i haven't blogged since i got back from bali. it seems like one million years ago since i went to bali.

christmas came and went, and it's already 2008. time sure flies real quickly!

i'm still in the same job, and i enjoy the work but still hate working life. i'm still constantly broke, and i'm still as lazy as ever. nothing much has changed. haha!

anw..i went to shanghai and hangzhou at the end of december 2007, and erm there's nothing about that place that i wanna gush about (unlike hil the china-chick who loves shanghai to the bottom of her heart..ha!). shanghai's like singapore and our neighbouring country mixed together, but 1000 times bigger in size. the traffic there is hideous, the people speak at an extraordinary volume and their manners are...erm...damn good...NOT!

hangzhou had a nice and super huge lake that i could barely see due to the extremely bad weather - rain and fog all the time. we spent christmas and christmas eve (which also happened to be my birthday!) there. there was ZERO christmas celebration in hangzhou, and for my bday celebration,we had the KFC family bucket. haha...but i'm definitely more satisfied with it than the christmas buffet dinner that shangri-la had to offer...which would have cost about 800sgd. if i was turning 50 years old last yr,i would have definitely accepted my dad's offer to have tt dinner :P

anw, i have yet to upload my shanghai photos on my laptop...so here are pics from other celebrations.

my early bday celebration at the majestic restaurant in new majestic hotel...the food was super good! thank you for the wonderful dinner...thank you girls for the wonderful suprise (which my mom kinda spoilt), and thanks hil for the dinner recommendation!

erm..i was too caught up with gobbling my food down, hence i forgot to take pics..but the main reason why i didn't take pics was, i didn't want to look like a suaku. we had abalone, foie gras, sharks fin and all that high cholesterol delicious food. remnants of my mango pudding with black glutinous rice dessert can be found at the bottom left corner of the collage..ha!

also...pls say hi to our new friend hogbob!

new year's count down was at zouk. surprisingly there wasn't any crowd, and erm the music was quite zzzz...i was bored by i think 1am. but i dunno why i stayed till 3 plus and only reached home ard 5am??

oh! did i mention that i'm still in the office? and now i am going home...
